Grain transshipment in ports dropped 2x

In the period of July 6 – 12, grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports stood at 427 thou. tons, 62 percent up from the previous week (1 129 thou. tons on the basis of updated data), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat exports in the indicated period dropped 20 percent wk/wk to 125 thou. tons vs. 157 thou. tons.

According to the report, shipments of corn and barley reduced to 187 and 115 thou. tons, respectively. Last week corn exports made up 785 thou. tons, barley — 186 thou. tons.

The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Jordan (60 thou. tons), Spain (45 thou. tons) and the UK (33 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (491 thou. tons). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 233 thou, tons, and Chernomorsk — 196 thou. tons.

By the official data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, a record 50.4 million tons of grains, legumes and flour were supplied to foreign markets in the 2018/2019 marketing year, 9.5 million tons more from the previous year (40.9 million tons).
