Record volume of rapeseed oil traded from Ukraine in September

In September 2019/20, the export of rapeseed oil from Ukraine reached a record level of 64.5 thou. t. An equivalent volume was only shipped in September 2015/16, UkrAgroConsult reports.

"In the first three months of 2019/20, exports of rapeseed oil hit a record level, 28.4% more from the relevant period of 2018/19," the report says.

The growth of processing volumes in the 2019/20 season is expected to result in a high export potential (35% more vs. 2018/19).

China and the EU jointly share the Ukrainian rapeseed oil market at a ratio of 67:33. In August-September, China significantly increased its purchases and for the first time became the leader of the importers' rating.

Germany and Poland increased import volumes of the product. France and Lithuania, on the contrary, cut their imports.

Previously reported that the FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index averaged 135.7 points in September, up 1.8 points (or 1.4%) from August, marking the highest level in 13 months.
