Ukraine's Oct 5-11 sea port exports down 50 pct wk/wk

In the week of Oct. 5–11, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports totalled 728 thou. t, 50% lower from the previous week (1.46 mln t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, wheat shipment reduced almost 2x from 994 thou. t to 473 thou. t. Barley shipment dropped to 20 thou. t vs. 116 thou. t a week earlier. A 33% drop was shown by corn — to 236 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 178 thou. t;
  • Bangladesh — 118 thou. t;
  • Morocco — 81 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (5.47 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 3.21 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 2.91 mln t.

Previously reported that in 9M 2019 Ukrainian seaports provided for the transshipment of more than 37.6 mln t of grain cargoes, 36.9% more from the prior year's comparative period.
