Record high harvest among the factors appreciating hryvnia

One of the main factors contributing to the Ukrainian hryvnia's appreciation during November-December 2019 was a record harvest of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) informs.

"In October-December, the main sources of currency oversupply were the proceeds from Ukrainian exports, in particular, due to the record harvest of grains and oilseeds, and the sale of funds from foreign currency attractions by state-owned companies," the NBU stated.

According to the report, the NBU actively bought out the excess currency to increase international reserves.

Net foreign exchange interventions have totalled over USD 5.5 bln since the start of 2019.

Previously reported that agriculture, forestry and fishery of Ukraine received UAH 536.659 mln of direct investments (share capital) as of September 1, 2019.
