Grain cargoes contributed to Nika-Tera transshipment boost in 2019
Cargo transshipment by the Sea Specialized Port Nika-Tera, a structural division of Group DF, totalled 8.637 mln t in the year 2019.
In the structure of cargo turnover, grains, legumes and oilseeds amounted to more than 5.9 mln t or 69% of the total volume, bulk cargo — 1.7 mln t (19.7%), meal and bran — 772.5 thou. t (8.9%), liquid cargo — 204.7 thou. t (2.4%).
"For the port, 8.637 mln t of cargo turnover is an absolute record. Compared to 2018, it increased by 2.8 mln t or 48%. Two factors supported the effectiveness growth. Firstly, with the investor's support, we implemented several projects aimed at increasing the speed of customer service. We have not just increased the speed of loading and unloading, we have improved the entire production process, adjusted the technology of work in the port and logistics. The second important factor is that rather successful management decisions were made. It concerns investments, production, personnel, sales and marketing," commented head of the port Alim Agakishiev.
In 2019, Nika-Tera implemented 2 investment projects aimed at increasing the transshipment of liquid cargoes:
- completion of construction and launch of the second phase of the oil transshipment complex with the storage capacity of 30 thou. t. With the new line, the transshipment capacity of Cargo District No. 4 reached 600 thou. t per year, and the volume of liquid cargo storage reached 63.4 thou. m³;
- construction and commissioning of a new tanker loading line. The diameter of the pipe for liquid cargoes loading has been increased to 400 mm and the maximum loading capacity is 1000 tons per hour.
The implementation of the two projects resulted in a more than doubled oil transshipment in the port of Nika-Tera compared to 2018.
In the week of Jan. 4-10, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.12 mln t, 6% lower from the previous week's figure (1.19 mln t).
