Grain export 2019/20: sales topped 35 mln t

Since the start of 2019/20, staple grains export from Ukraine has reached 35.03 mln t vs. 27.19 mln t in the prior season's relevant period.

As of Jan. 27, commodities shipment increased by 7.8 mln t from the comparative period of the previous year, the information and analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine reports.

Grain export structure in the reporting period is as follows:

  • wheat — 15.61 mln t (4.2 mln t more y-o-y);
  • barley — 3.85 mln t (581 thou. t more y-o-y);
  • corn — 15.11 mln t (3.19 mln t more y-o-y);
  • rye — 5 thou. t (80 thou. t less y-o-y).

As a reminder, protein content in Ukrainian wheat increased on average from 11.9% in 2018 to 12.58% in 2019.
