Ukraine's Feb 22-28 sea port wheat shipment down 5x

In the week of Feb. 22-28, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 963 thou. t, 21% lower from the previous week's volumes (1.22 mln t, as provided by the data updated), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat export shipment dropped more than 5x in the reporting period and amounted to 52 thou. t vs. the previous week's 290 thou. t. Corn exports regressed by 7% to 856 thou. t. Barley shipment dropped by more than 4x and amounted to 55 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 243 thou. t;
  • Spain — 146 thou. t;
  • Ireland — 87 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the handled volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (12.88 mln t). The port of Chernomorsk provided for the transshipment of 8.96 mln t, and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) — 7.49 mln t.

As a reminder, as of Mar. 2, Ukraine supplied 40.87 mln t of staple grains to foreign markets. Agricultural commodities shipment increased by 7.79 mln t from the prior year's comparative period, 33.07 mln t.
