Romania lifted wheat export restriction

Romania has lifted all export restrictions on wheat and other foodstuffs exports to non-EU destinations, Reuters informs.

"There’s a new military decree, number 9 ... an assessment was made, there are supplies for domestic consumption: all restrictions under Decree number 8th are now lifted,” said the country's Interior Minister Marcel Vela.

Earlier, Agriculture Minister Adrian Oros stated, that contracts for wheat exports concluded before the military decree banning grain exports to non-European countries entered into force on Apr. 10, are not terminated.

As a reminder, the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and grain traders signed a document which provides for a limit of wheat export from Ukraine in 2019/20, i.e. until June 30, 2020, at 20.2 mln t.Wheat production in Ukraine and worldwide (click for full resolution)

As of Apr. 15, wheat export shipment from Ukraine stood at 18.35 mln t, 34% or 4.63 mln t more y-o-y.
