Spring wheat areas increased from 2019, key production regions in 2020

Spring wheat sowing was completed in Ukraine on the area of 184.53 thou. ha, 6% more from prior year's 174.7 thou. ha.
According to the data of the Sowing Online 2019/20 Project, the largest sown areas of spring wheat in Ukraine are in the following regions (thou. ha):
- Kherson: 21.5
- Ternopil: 21.2
- Lviv: 20.2
- Volyn: 15
- Zhytomyr: 14.3
The project was created in partnership with BASF.
The USDA experts put wheat yield forecast for Ukraine in 2020/21 at 4.1% lower — 28 mln t (2019/20: 29.17 mln t, under experts' estimates).
