Sea port grain handling lower in first half 2020

Cereals transshipment in Ukrainian sea ports in the first half of 2020 dropped by 4.4% YoY to 23.41 mln t (1H 2019: 24.5 mln t), the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reports.

Grain handling in the reporting period reduced to 22.92 mln t, 4.9% lower YoY. Cereals account for 29.5% of the total transshipment volume by sea ports.

The highest cereals handling volumes were provided by:

  • Chernomorsk: 6.99 mln t, 29.8% of the total volume
  • Mykolaiv: 6.05 mln t, 25.8%
  • Pivdenny: 3.89 mln t, 16.6%
  • Odesa: 3.63 mln t, 15.5%
  • Olvia: 938.74 thou. t, 4%

Staple grains shipment in Ukrainian sea ports in June stood at 1.95 mln t, 47% lower from the previous month (3.68 mln t as provided by the figures updated).
