Ukraine's sea port wheat exports in June down 5x

Staple grains shipment in Ukrainian sea ports in June stood at 1.95 mln t, 47% lower from the previous month (3.68 mln t as provided by the figures updated), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat shipments dropped lowest among other crops: by 5x to 214 thou. t. Corn exports fell by 37% to 1.54 mln t within the month. At that, barley sales volumes to foreign markets in the reporting period increased by 38% and amounted to 193 thou. t.

The top three grain importing countries in the reporting period:

  • China: 785.3 thou. t of corn
  • Saudi Arabia: 118 thou. t of barley
  • Indonesia: 66.2 thou. t of wheat

In the 2019/20 season, the port of Mykolaiv provided for the transshipment of 16.93 mln t of agricultural commodities. The ports of Chernomorsk and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) handled 13.56 and 9.85 mln t, respectively.

Since the start of 2020/21, staple grains export shipment from Ukraine has reached 719 thou. t. As of July 17, agricultural commodities shipment reduced by 970 thou. t or 2.4x from the prior year's comparative period, 1.69 mln t.
