Sunflower export from Ukraine slashed 40% in Jan-Aug

In the period of January-August 2020, sunflower export from Ukraine totalled 38.95 thou. t, 41.6% lower YoY (8M 2019: 68.13 thou. t worth USD 27.8 mln), the State Customs Service data show.
The value of exported commodities is estimated at USD 16.69 mln.
Key importing countries in 8M 2020:
- Turkey: USD 3.23 mln, 19.37% of the total supply
- Georgia: USD 1.54 mln, 9.25%
- Italy: USD 1.26 mln, 7.55%
- others: USD 10.54 mln, 63.84%
As a reminder, sunflower seed production in Ukraine in 2020/21 is forecasted by USDA at 17 mln t, 0.5 mln t lower from the August estimate.
