Ukraine and UK signed free trade agreement

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed an agreement to strengthen the political and trade ties between the two countries.

The President stressed the exceptional importance of this agreement as a new basis for bilateral relations, in particular, in the context of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union.

“Today is a historic day for Ukraine and the United Kingdom: we are starting a new stage of a strategic partnership between our countries,” the President of Ukraine said.

The document introduces strategic partnership relations and establishes the main areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

This agreement, when brought into force, will allow businesses to continue trading as they do now after the end of the Transition Period. It delivers the same level of liberalisation in trade, services and public procurement that businesses currently enjoy under the existing EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

And it underlines the UK’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as both countries’ commitment to strengthening democracy and human rights and deepening the security relationship.
