Ukraine's potato import 33% up in 11M 2020

In January-November, potato import to Ukraine totalled 275.94 thou. t for the amount of USD 57.82 mln, 33.23% or 207.1 thou. t more from the prior year's comparative period (11M 2019: USD 40.2 mln).

According to the data of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, key potato exporting countries to Ukraine:

• Belarus: 122.96 thou. t, USD 25.77 mln, 44.56% of the total supply
• Netherlands: 58.17 thou. t, USD 12.12 mln, 21.08%
• Russia: 34.7 thou. t, USD 7.27 mln, 12.58%
• others: 60.1 thou. t, USD 12.6 mln, 21.78%

Potato export from Ukraine in 11M 2020 totalled 2.82 thou. t worth USD 853 thou., 50.26% or 2.85 thou. t less YoY.

In 2019, potato production worldwide reached 371 mln t, surging by 2.1% on the previous year. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2007 to 2019. The countries with the highest volumes of potato production in 2019 were China (93 mln t), India (51 mln t) and Ukraine (23 mln t), with a combined 45% share of global production.
