Astarta's EBITDA lost 30% in 1Q 2021

The agri-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv posted EUR 19.42 mln of EBITDA in 1Q 2021, 30% lower YoY (1Q 2020: EUR 27.78 mln).

EBITDA in the sugar segment summed EUR 9.7 mln, 2.8x higher from the prior-year period (1Q 2020: EUR 3.4 mln), the agriculture segment generated EUR 7.23 mln (-66% YoY), soybean processing EUR 3.19 mln (+10% YoY), and dairy farming a received negative EBITDA EUR 454 thou (1Q 202: EUR 1.96 mln).

Astarta's consolidated revenue came down to EUR 82.84 mln, 18% lower YoY (1Q 2020: 101.34 mln).

Segment revenues:

  • agriculture: fell by 63% to EUR 14.66 mln
  • soybean processing: increased by 31% to EUR 29.3 mln
  • sugar: flat YoY, EUR 28.76 mln
  • dairy farming: down by 9% to EUR 33.17 mln

The gross profit of Astarta reduced by 34% to EUR 19.67 mln, the gross profit margin made up 24% (versus 29% in 1Q 2020).

EBIT slid by 36% from EUR 11.96 mln to EUR 7.68 mln.

Astarta's net profit for 1Q 2021 stood at EUR 3.63 mln vs. EUR 13.32 mln of net loss in 1Q 2020.

In early February 2021, the company sold two of its sugar refineries in Kharkiv region.
