World's first demonstration of Horsch Robo autonomous robotic planter held in Ukraine
German agricultural machinery manufacturer Horsch presented the autonomous robotic planter Horsch Robo during the official opening ceremony of the company's office in Velyka Soltanivka village in Kyiv region, Traktorist.ua reports.
The self-propelled seeder is equipped with a 300 hp diesel engine. As reported, the first prototype is based on the CLAAS Terra Trac rubber crawler track technology (as in the Axion 900 tractors) with no front steer axle.
"In developing an autonomous seeder, we aimed to create a highly efficient, productive machine that does not require a tractor and needs no constant operator presence," says Michael Horsch, owner of Horsch Corporation.
The machine is operated via a special remote control or iPAD. The remote control has a range of 2 km.
Besides the robotic planter, eight Horsch machines were demonstrated including the Joker RT and Cruiser 6 XL residue management tools, the Tiger 4 MT + FertiPro tillers, the Focus 6.50 TD, Maestro 12 CV and Maestro 24 SX planters, the Leeb 4 AX and Leeb 6.280 VL sprayers.
