Harvesting in Cherkasy region delayed by two weeks

The harvesting campaign in Cherkasy region started on 8 July, two weeks later than in the 2020 crop year, 26 June.

The Agrarian Department of Cherkasy Region State Administration reports that the winter barley campaign has started in Cherkasy district. The crop yields from 5.7 to 4 t/ha. Other districts of the region plan to start harvesting next week.

Winter grain crops in the region cover 237.2 thou. ha, winter rapeseed 15.5 thou. ha.

The Department is also warning the agriproducers of the high fire hazard and stresses the mandatory nature of safety rules observance.

The neighbouring Poltava region also started early grains and legumes harvesting on 8 July. Winter barley yields 5.34 t/ha on average.

Agriproducers in Odesa region report a delayed new crop campaign and lower quality of winter cereals as a result of prolonged rains in June-July.

NOTE: The StateGeocadastre projected the cost of farmland in Ukraine upon land market opening with the highest being traded in Cherkasy region and the lowest in Chernihiv.
