Sowing Online 2021/22: winter barley campaign 67% completed in Ukraine

As of 25 October, winter crops planting in Ukraine was completed on 6.5 mln ha, representing 83% of the projected area (7.84 mln ha). Sumy and Poltava regions are the first in Ukraine to complete winter grains planting, 100% of the planned area was covered.

Sowing progress as of the reporting date:

• winter wheat: 5.65 mln ha, 85% of 6.68 mln ha
• winter barley: 511 thou. ha, 67% of 1.02 mln ha
• winter rye: 150 thou. ha, 93% of 160.65 thou. ha

Winter rapeseed sowing in Ukraine was 98% completed on 1 mln ha of the planned 1.03 mln ha. This oilseed crop sowing was finalized in 18 regions. Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions exceeded the planned areas having sown 105% and 113% of rapeseed, respectively. Producers of Zakarpattya do not plant winter rapeseed.

The new crop progress in Ukraine as of 21 October came to 56.3 mln t of grains and legumes on 12.2 mln ha. The average yield made up 4.62 t/ha.
