Agri-food exports from Ukraine redirected to rail: Kubrakov
The Ministry of Infrastructure is elaborating solutions to redirect exports of agricultural products to the Ukrainian railways.
The ministry officials held talks with representatives of agribusiness yesterday, 29 March. It is noted that work is underway to ensure stable logistics of machinery and parts, fertilizers, fuel — everything that is required to run agricultural enterprises.
Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov adds that there is a reorientation of agricultural exports towards railways. The overall level of containerization of Ukrzaliznytsia's freight system is also being improved in parallel.
"Options for agricultural exports are under consideration. After all, with the start of the war and the temporary lockdown of sea ports, our access to international markets has shrunk. As usual, farmers leave part of the crops to sell them in spring at more favourable prices," he adds.
Previously reported that Ukrzaliznytsia partnered with hundreds of agriproducers and processors to support both businesses in Ukraine and help supply foodstuffs to regions invaded by russia.
