Cabinet drops zero quota on rye and mineral fertilizers export from Ukraine

The Government of Ukraine cancelled the ban on the export of rye and mineral fertilizers, and introduced an automatic licensing regime for these commodities.

The Cabinet of Ministers stated that at the moment, the excess reserves of rye in Ukraine are estimated at 73 thou. t, and grain production in the current season is forecast at 351 thou. t.

"This will ensure the internal demand, which makes up 353 thou. t per year. At the same time, due to the completion of the sowing campaign, the demand for mineral fertilizers is much lower. Exporting a surplus of these commodity positions will increase foreign exchange earnings for the country, which is an important condition for economic recovery," the statement reads.

Zero quotas were introduced in early March to ensure a stable supply in the domestic market, especially in the conditions of russian invasion of Ukraine.
