Black Sea Grain Export Initiative extended for another 120 days: Ukraine Infrastructure Ministry

The "Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports" has been extended for another 120 days today in Istanbul, the minister of infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced.

"The UN and Turkey remain the guarantors of the Initiative's implementation," the minister added.

Ukraine has officially addressed the partners in the Initiative with a proposal to extend the grain deal for at least one year and to include the port of Mykolaiv.

"We are expecting their answer," said Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The minister stressed the importance of ensuring the effective work of the Joint Coordination Center (JCC). According to Kubrakov, Ukraine has made its proposals to solve the existing problems.

The Ministry of Infrastructure noted that since the first of August, the beginning of the Grain Initiative and to date, Ukraine has exported more than 11 mln t of agricultural commodities to 38 countries.

The first phase of the deal was signed in Turkey on 22 July. Export of grain under the Black Sea Grain Initiative from the ports of Big Odesa — Pivdenny, Odesa and Chornomorsk — started on 1 August.
