Planting of spring crops advances in all Ukraine-controlled territories

All regions have started sowing spring crops in Ukraine-controlled territory. A total of 500 thou. ha of grain and leguminous crops was sown as of March 30, the Agrarian Ministry reports.

The planted area as of March 30 by crops (thou. ha):

  • 307.4 barley
  • 107.7 wheat
  • 57.7 peas
  • 26.4 oats

The highest pace of planting since the start of the campaign has been reached in Ternopil – 94.7 thou. ha, Vinnytsia – 74.3 thou. ha, and Khmelnytsky regions – 60.8 thou. ha.

Over the past week, 207 thou. ha of grain and leguminous crops was sown.

Sugar beet sowing is progressing in Vinnytsya, Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Ternopil regions.

Growers in Odesa, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi regions are planting sunflowers.

The total area of winter and spring crops in Ukraine for the 2023 harvest is 19.3 mln ha (2022: 19.8 mln ha).
