Spring grains and legumes 11% planted in Ukraine by April 6

Spring crops planting in Ukraine covered 620.5 thou. ha by April 6, making 11% of the projected area of grains and legumes in 2023 — 5.457 mln ha (2022: 5.906 mln ha), the Agrarian Ministry reports.

Growers in six regions of Ukraine have planted 25.6 thou. ha of sugar beet, which makes 11.6% of the projected area in 2023 — 220.1 thou. ha. Vinnytsya region agrarians planted the most as of the reporting date — 17.5 thou. ha.

Sunflower sowing is progressing in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyy and Chernivtsi regions. 21 thou. ha was planted as of April 6. The projected area for the 2023 crop is 5.640 mln ha (2022: 4.987 mln ha).

For the 2023 harvest, the total area of spring crops in Ukraine is projected at 13.158 mln ha (2022: 12.58 mln ha).
