Corn planting starts in Ukraine, grains and legumes 13% sown by April 13
Spring crops planting in Ukraine covered 722.4 thou. ha by April 13, making 13% of the projected area of grains and legumes in 2023 — 5.457 mln ha (2022: 5.906 mln ha), the Agrarian Ministry reports.

Corn planting has started in Sumy region, a northern region of Ukraine. The total projected area for the 2023 crop is 3.618 mln ha (2022: 4.206 mln ha).
Growers in six regions of Ukraine have planted 32.7 thou. ha of sugar beet, which makes 15% of the projected area in 2023 — 220.1 thou. ha. Vinnytsya region agrarians planted the most as of the reporting date — 19.8 thou. ha.
Sunflower sowing is progressing in Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyy and Chernivtsi regions. 37.2 thou. ha was planted as of April 13. The projected area for the 2023 crop is 5.640 mln ha (2022: 4.987 mln ha).
For the 2023 harvest, the total area of spring crops in Ukraine is projected at 13.158 mln ha (2022: 12.58 mln ha).
