Winter rapeseed sowing completed in Ukraine behind projected area

Growers in all regions of Ukraine have completed winter rapeseed planting on 1.13 million hectares, representing 94% of the forecast area, the Agriculture Ministry reports.
As of October 24, farms in Ukraine planted 4.98 million hectares of winter crops for the 2024 harvest, 78% of the projected area.
Sown areas by crops:
- winter rapeseed 1.13 mln ha, 94%
- winter wheat 3.45 mln ha, 79%
- winter barley 322 thou. ha, 46%
- winter rye 71 thou. ha, 88%
In the week of October 16-22, producers planted 506 thou. hectares of winter crops.
For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha. For 2024 it is projected at 6.34 mln ha.
