Five regions in Ukraine complete winter crops planting

In the week of October 23-29, growers in Ivano-Frankivsk region completed the winter crops planting campaign. It is the fifth region to complete the field work, the Agriculture Ministry reports.

As of October 30, farms in Ukraine planted 5.35 million hectares of winter crops for the 2024 harvest, 84% of the projected area.

Sown areas by crops:

  • winter rapeseed 1.14 mln ha, 94%
  • winter wheat 3.73 mln ha, 86%
  • winter barley 402.6 thou. ha, 58%
  • winter rye 75.5 thou. ha, 93%

Producers planted 362 thou. hectares of winter crops in the week of October 23-29.

For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha. For 2024 it is projected at 6.34 mln ha.
