Temporary Ukrainian corridor operates with no fixed schedule — OC South
There is no regular schedule for the temporary humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea, with vessels moving whenever the security conditions allow, EPravda reports quoting the statement by Natalia Gumeniuk, spokesperson of the Operational Command "South".
"There is no consistent schedule, there are opportunities that are being implemented with the support of the defence forces," explained Natalia Gumeniuk.
According to her, this refers to the work of the humanitarian corridor in general, not just the "grain corridor", where only grain is shipped.
"The operation of this corridor is proposed under conditions that the Defence Forces can adhere to and ensure the security component to the extent possible," she added.
She stressed that the maritime corridor is operated with no guarantees from international partners, and is solely the responsibility of the Ukrainian military. Ships enter and leave the corridor only when the military is certain that the operation will be as safe as possible.
Natalia Gumeniuk noted that the military has recorded an increase in the number of unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles not only along the frontline, but also try to enter from the sea to monitor the situation in more remote regions.
"The presence of a naval task force in the Black Sea indicates that the vessels may be carrying unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles. This is intended to monitor the surface situation [...]. Besides, we understand that the enemy is amassing certain resources and will use them. We have seen this recently. Attacks have become more targeted," she concluded.
As of October 29, 53 ships passed through the Black Sea humanitarian corridor with over 2 million tons of agricultural commodities aboard.
