Ukraine to harvest 56 mln t of grains and 21 mln t of oilseeds in 2025 — Economy Ministry

Growers in Ukraine are expected to produce about 56 mln tons of grains and 21 mln tons of oilseeds in the 2025 season, Interfax-Ukraine reported, citing Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotskyi.

According to Vysotskyi, production of early grains is forecast at around 26 mln tons, slightly lower than last year due to reduced yields of winter wheat and barley in the southeast affected by drought.

Corn production is projected at 28 mln tons, higher than in 2024. Despite crop losses in the southeast, the main "corn belt" — Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kyiv and western regions — developed strong plantings thanks to rainfall and favourable temperatures.

Oilseed output is expected at 21 mln tons, on par with last year, with a higher share of sunflower and lower soybean volumes.

“From a farmer’s perspective, prices are high, really good. Even now, during the harvest, they remain firm. Where there was no force majeure or losses, these prices are indeed a fair reward for work on the land,” Vysotskyi emphasized.

He also noted that the livestock sector remains stable, with meat, milk, and egg production holding steady.

By contrast, horticulture has suffered from the cold spring. Apple prices are expected to decline from September as the new harvest reaches the market. A similar trend will be seen in the vegetable sector: prices will decrease but remain economically viable for producers.
