NIBULON is no monopolist in the river transportation market — AMCU

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) does not consider NIBULON a monopoly in the market of cargo transportation by inland waterway transport.

The head of the Antimonopoly Committee Yuri Terentyev stated this in the interview with AgroPolit.com.

He noted that NIBULON essentially develops internal river transportations. The company has its own commercial river fleet, and this positively affects the country's economic potential.

"The AMCU's has several complaints from NIBULON regarding the infringement of their interests by other entities when carrying out river transportation. What do we see? NIBULON is not a monopolist in the market of cargo transportation by inland waterway, because the company itself built barges and uses them for its own transportation. Therefore, this does not mean that they have the highest share of traffic in the domestic market. It would be another matter if, for example, there was one company with a fleet that would provide services to all other players — that would be a monopoly position," Yuriy Terentyev explains.

In 2016 NIBULON transported more than 2 million tons of cargo by river transport.
