LANDFORT stakes on producing grain crops and sunflower

When planning the sowing campaign, the agricultural holding LANDFORT counted on strategic crops: grains and sunflower, the areas under which in the current season will amount to more than 33 thou. ha.

This was informed by the Chief Agronomist of LANDFORT Aleksandr Ogarenko.

"At the moment, the budget-filling crops which occupy 95% of the crop rotation of LANDFORT, are grains and sunflower. Winter wheat returns costs, but sunflower is completely our profit," he said.

As the expert noted, this year wintering conditions for crops can be characterized as satisfactory, although during the sowing season there were nuances.

"The sowing and the initial stage of development made us nervous, because there was not enough moisture and we got late shoots. There were also fears because the crop started wintering in the phase of stem elongation. But since it was warm in December, most of our wheat bloomed, and the rest is at the beginning of tillering," he summed up.
