Ukrsugar named major sugar producers of 2017/18

The agri-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv is the largest sugar producer in 2017/18.

According to the data of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar), Astarta-Kyiv produced 462.9 thou. tons of sugar.

Among the major sugar producers of Ukraine in 2017/18 are:

1. Astarta-Kyiv — 462.9 thou. tons;
2. Radekhovsky Sugar — 433.1 thou. tons;
3. UKRPROMINVEST-AGRO — 241.3 thou. tons;
4. Svitanok — 103.3 thou. tons;
5. ASPIC GROUP — 85.8 thou. tons;
6. Panda — 56.1 thou. tons;
7. Gals Agro — 49.4 thou. tons.

"As we can see, there has been a certain reorientation among industry leaders. Radekhovsky Sugar managed to strengthen its positions and took the second place in the rating due to the launch of sugar factories acquired in 2016, previously owned by the company Galichina Sugar. Also, this year the Shepetivka sugar plant was included in the ASPIC GROUP, which allowed the holding to take the 5th position in the rating," comments Ruslana Butylo, head of the analytical department at NASU Ukrsugar.

Reference: in 2017/18, sugar production in Ukraine reached 2.14 million tons, which is 6.5% more compared to last year's volume — 2.01 million tons.
