Qatar company and USPA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

On July 31, 2018, Qatar ports management company Mwani Qatar and the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document is aimed at increasing cargo turnover between countries, including export supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products to Qatar, as well as attracting investments in the development of the Ukrainian port infrastructure.

The Memorandum was signed in Kyiv in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan and the Minister of Transport and Communications of Qatar D. Al Suleithi.

Before the signing, the Head of the Qatar port company met with the Acting CEO of USPA Raivis Veckagans in Odessa, where the work and potential investment projects in the ports Yuzhny and Odessa were presented.

"One of the priority areas that Qatar plans to develop in cooperation with Ukraine is the export of agricultural products. In this regard, at a meeting with Abdullah Al Thani we discussed in detail the concession projects for the ports Olvia and Kherson, which are in close proximity to the main agricultural regions of Ukraine," the Head of USPA noted.

According to Raivis Veckagans, Qatar also is interested in the development of Yuzhny Sea Port.
