Three countries are the leaders in importing Ukrainian agroproducts in 1H 2018

The countries of Asia, Africa, the European Union and the CIS are the key markets for domestic agroproducts. In the first half of 2018, their total share increased and amounted to almost 97% of the value of Ukrainian exports of agricultural products, the National Research Center Institute of Agrarian Economics informs.

A characteristic feature of January-June 2018 was the increase in the volume of foreign deliveries of domestic food products to the countries of Asia and the CIS against the background of a decrease in exports to the EU and Africa.

For several years, the position of the major importer of domestic agroproducts has been preserved by Asian countries, which in January-June 2018 purchased Ukrainian food products worth of USD 3.7 billion. Asia's share for this period was 43.2% of the total exports of agricultural products.

About a third of domestic exports of agricultural products — 30.4% — occur in the countries of the European Union. For the first half of 2018, they purchased Ukrainian food products for USD 2.6 billion.

The volume of exports to Africa amounted to USD 1.3 billion or 14.6% of the total exports of agricultural products.

The tendency of the revival of domestic agricultural products export to the CIS countries is preserved. In January-June 2018, countries of this region imported products for USD 0.7 billion, which accounted for 8.6% of the total exports of agricultural products.

By the results of 1H 2018, the traditional countries-importers of Ukrainian agroproducts are as follows:

  • India — USD 1 076 million;
  • Egypt — USD 576 million;
  • China — USD 527 million.

Ukrainian exporters also received significant revenues from exports to the Netherlands (USD 525 million), Spain (USD 470 million), Turkey (USD 458 million) and Italy (USD 449 million).

These seven countries provided more than 47% of the earnings from the export of agricultural products in the first half of 2018.
