Harvest Online 2018: Farmers harvested over 34 million tons of grain

As of August 21, 2018, harvesting was carried out on an area of 9.8 million hectares, which 99% of the forecast (9.6 million hectares in 2017), with a yield of 3.47 t/ha (3.86 t / ha in 2017). Around 34.1 million tons of new crop were threshed (37.2 million tonnes in 2017).

The data was gathered by the project Harvest Online 2018.

The following crops were harvested:

  • 6.4 million hectares (99%) of winter wheat, with a yield of 3.8 t/ha, 24.4 million tons threshed;
  • 183.8 thousand hectares (94%) of spring wheat, with a yield of 3.52 t/ha, 647.7 thousand tonnes threshed;
  • 871.8 thousand hectares (100%) of winter barley, with a yield of 3.53 t/ha, 3.1 million tonnes threshed;
  • 1.6 million hectares (99%) of spring barley, with a yield of 2.76 t/ha, collected 4.4 million tonnes threshed;
  • 429.5 thousand hectares (99%) of peas, with a yield of 1.86 t/ha, 798.8 thousand tones threshed;
  • 145.3 thousand hectares (98%) of rye, with a yield of 2.66 t/ha, 386.8 thousand tonnes threshed;
  • were threshed on an area of 184.1 thousand hectares (93%) of oats, with a yield of 2.32 t/ha, 422.6 thousand tons threshed.

Besides, there were threshed 2.5 million tons of winter rapeseed from 969.2 thousand hectares (99%) with a yield of 2.65 t/ha and 93 thousand tons of spring rapeseed from 46.2 thousand hectares (65%) with a yield of 2.01 t/ha.

The largest harvest was produced in:

  • Odessa region – 3.6 million tons;
  • Kharkiv region – 2.3 million tons;
  • Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions – 2.2 million tons,
  • Nikolaev region – 2.1 million tons;
  • Zaporozhye region – 2 million tons.

The highest yield of early grain and legumes was observed in the Khmelnitsky (5.26 t/ha), Ivano-Frankivsk (4.91 t/ha), Lviv (4.82 t/ha), Vinnitsa (4.81 t/ha), and Ternopil 4.74 t/ha) regions.
