HarvEast launched a seed production line in Donetsk region

On October 18, HarvEast agroholding launched a seed production line with a capacity of 8 tons per hour.

The universal seed line of the Danish company Cimbria was installed in the territory of the former oil crushing plant located in Nikolsky district of Donetsk region.

Together with the seed line, the quality control laboratory started working. By the end of 2018, the plant will be reconstructed, an elevator with a storage capacity of 9 thou. m³ will also be put into operation on its territory.

In 2019, after the production capacity increase, the plant will produce wheat, sunflower, legume and corn seeds both for HarvEast and for third parties.

“The launch of the seed line has become an important step for HarvEast in reducing the production risks associated with agricultural activities in the risky farming zone. The development of the seed business in parallel with the introduction of irrigation will help HarvEast minimize the influence of external factors on the performance of the agricultural holding, provide sustainable business development, and most importantly, cover the needs of Ukrainian farmers in high-quality seeds," commented Dmitriy Skorniakov, CEO of HarvEast.

In 2017, HarvEast started developing the seed business as a separate business direction with the project of hybridization of sunflower seeds for the MAS Seeds company. Already in 2018, the agroholding expanded the framework of cooperation with the French partner to three projects and also began growing seeds for Euralis Semences, DuPont Pioneer and Alta Seeds. The introduction of irrigation systems on 1.1 thou. hectares in the Donetsk region provided guaranteed high-quality seeds.
