Sugar end stocks in Ukraine 11% higher

As of 1 November 2018, sugar end stocks in Ukraine are estimated at 1.092 million tons, which is 11% more than the preceding year's indicator, Ukrsugar informs.

As of the beginning of November, sugar beet was harvested on 249 thou. hectares, or 89% of the areas. 12.6 million tons of the crop are harvested at a yield of 49.3 tons/ha (2017: 45.1 tons/ha).

By the operational data, in September-October MY2018/2019, 950 thou. tons of sugar were produced, which is 9% less than in the corresponding period last year.

The estimated domestic sugar consumption over the two-month period of the current season is estimated at 228 thou. tons. Sugar exports in September-October amounted to 69 thou. tons, which is 10 thou. tons or 17% more than the previous year.

The largest volumes of Ukrainian sugar were delivered to Uzbekistan. Sugar import supplies to Ukraine were not carried out.

On the international sugar market, the last day of October 2018 ended inside the red zone both for white sugar and for raw sugar. The fall in exchange prices for sugar was limited to a couple of dollars, but on the physical market (ports of Brazil) prices dropped by USD 15-16 on the last day of last month.
