The number of organic market operators in Ukraine increased — Trofimtseva

The number of organic market operators in Ukraine increased. This was informed by Olga TrofimtsevaDeputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration, during the #OrganicinUkraine: Achievements of 2018 press-conference.

As of December 31, 2017, the number of operators of the organic market in Ukraine increased by 78 compared to 2016 and amounted to 504, among which 304 are producers of organic agricultural products.

“Today, the volume of the domestic market for organic products is growing rapidly, and the range of products is expanding noticeably. In 2017, we exported the Ukrainian organic products to more than 40 countries of the world,” she noted.

According to Olga Trofimtseva, today in Ukraine there are more and more certified producers of organic products, including processed food products among which are:

  • 4 producers of organic dairy products;
  • 1 producer of meat products;
  • 15 producers of cereals;
  • 11 producers of vegetable oils;
  • 3 producers of organic spices, etc.

“This year, there are new products in the range of organic products — dumplings (vareniki), potstickers (pel'meni) and organic beet sugar. At the same time, we are pioneers in Eastern Europe for the production of the latter,” she added.

About 80% of organic products produced in Ukraine are exported.
