Astarta-Kyiv harvested a record crop in 2018

The agri-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv reported on the company's operational results for 2018, which was marked by a robust crop.

Astarta harvested record high level of grains and oilseeds — 1.065 mln tons (+35% y-o-y). Total harvest of corn was over 620 thou. tons with the average yield of crop of 9.8 tons per ha. Some production units of the Group reached the yields level of 11.5 tons per ha. Sugar beet harvest was less compared with the results of 2017 on the reduced area under the crop and stood at 1.8 million tons.

Sugar production season was completed at the end of December with the final result of 352 thou. tons. The positive dynamics of energy efficiency improvement and the quality of the production was reached as the result of the 2018 sugar campaign. Energy consumption per ton of beet processed decreased by 5% compared with the results of 2017. The share of the top-quality sugar stood at 87% (including 16% of the extra quality) from the total production level. Granulated pulp production increased by 9% to 47 thou. tons.

Volumes of soybean processing were flat y-o-y, the Globyno processing plant was running at full capacity. Soybean meal production stood at 158 thou. tons, soybean oil production amounted to 40 thou. tons and husk production — 10.6 thou. tons. The processing plant was successfully certified under international standard GMP +B2, and the system of сost-effective production 5S was introduced.

Milk production in 2018 reached 102 thou. tons. Average productivity per cow was 7.2 tons annually, flat y-o-y, while the quality of milk improved significantly: the content of fat and protein increased and the share of extra quality milk exceeded 33% from the total production level for the first time in the history.
