Nika-Tera boosted cargo turnover 2.5x in first quarter 2019
The Sea Specialized Port Nika-Tera (a structural division of Group DF) in the first quarter of 2019 it handled 1.84 million tons of cargo, 61 pct more from the corresponding period of 2018.
The general structure of Nika-Tera's freight turnover in the reporting period is as follows:
- grains and legumes — 76.4 pct of the quarterly transshipment volume;
- bulked cargo — 19.6 pct;
- liquid bulk cargo — 4 pct.
After November 2018, March of the current year is the second record month in the port's history — the monthly transshipment amounted to more than 775 thou. tons (November 2018: more than 842 thou. tons). In total, 45 vessels were proceeded in March.
“In the port's territory in the current year, another wagon car unloading station was put into operation. A new pipeline line for loading tankers was built with an increased diameter up to 400 mm and a maximum capacity of up to 1000 tons/hour. The last tanker was loaded at an average capacity of 700-750 tons/hour. At the end of March, in order to maintain the depths, the port Nika-Tera began operational dredging works at its berths," the report says.
In February 2019, Nika-Tera transshipped 539 thou. tons of cargo, exceeding the prior-year's indicator by 60 pct.
