Sowing Online 2018/19: spring grain crops planted on 80 pct of the areas

As of April 8th, early spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine are sown on an area of 1.9 million hectares, or 82 pct of the projected areas.

By the data of the Sowing Online 2018/19 Projectthe sown areas by the spring crops are as follows:

  • spring barley — 1.3 million hectares (86 pct);
  • wheat — 131 thou. hectares (79 pct);
  • oats — 132 thou. hectares (68 pct);
  • peas — 262 thou. hectares (77 pct).

Sugar beet is sown on the area of 130 thou. hectares, 53 pct of the forecast areas. Sunflower sowing is carried out on 262 thou. hectares, making up 5 pct of the planned areas.

Fertilization of winter crops for grain was carried out on 7.4 million hectares or 98 pct of the forecast.
