USA corn farmers planted 92 pct of the planned areas

Corn sowing campaign in the U.S. was conducted on 92 per cent of the planned area compared to 100 per cent in the corresponding period last year. As of June 16, corn emerged on 79 per cent of the area vs. 97 per cent last year.

USDA reports that the condition of corn crops is fair on 31 per cent of the areas vs. 18 per cent in last year's comparative period, good — 32 per cent (59 per cent in the corresponding period last year) and excellent — 7 per cent of areas, 2.7x worse from the relevant period of 2018 (19 per cent).

The rate of spring wheat sowing campaign in the United States as of June 16 progressed to 95 per cent of the planned (97 per cent last year). According to crop condition estimates, 69 per cent of spring wheat is in good condition and 8 per cent is in excellent condition, which is higher than in the same period last year (64 per cent and 14per cent, respectively). 2 per cent of the crops (8 per cent a year ago).

By the report, 89 per cent of winter wheat crops entered the earing phase (94 per cent a year ago). Harvesting of winter wheat started in a number of states. The area to be harvested totals 8 per cent, less from the same period last year (25 per cent).

As previously reported, a reduction of corn production in the US by the USDA report met the market expectations.
