Seaports grain shipment halved within Sep 7–13

In the period of September 7–13, grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports stood at 881 thou. t, 44% down from the previous week (1.6 mln t on the basis of updated data), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports halved to 621 thou. t vs. 1.3 mln t a week earlier, while the export of corn dropped 10x to 7 thou. t vs. 73 thou. t a week earlier. Barley shipments slightly increased from 227 thou. t to 253 thou. t.

The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Turkey (211 thou. tons), Egypt (191 thou. tons) and Saudi Arabia (61 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (3.68 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 2.47 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 2.1 mln t.

Since the start of 2019/20, corn exports from Ukraine have reached 1.88 mln t, 557 thou. t of 42% higher from the prior year's comparative indicator, 1.32 mln t.
