Grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports up 3x in 9M 2019

In 9M 2019, Ukrainian seaports provided for the transshipment of more than 37.6 mln t of grain cargoes, 36.9% more from the prior year's comparative period, USPA reports.

Transshipment of chemical and mineral fertilizers, liquid cargo (oil, oil products, vegetable oil and others) also increased on average by 10%.

In total, since the start of 2019, transshipment has increased to 114.5 mln t, 19.4% more from the relevant period of the previous year.

Among the Ukrainian seaports, 4 ports are the leaders in terms of transshipment volumes by the results of nine months, having provided for the handling of more than 87% of the total volume. Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) handled more than 38.5 mln t (+28.4% compared to Jan-Sep 2018), Mykolaiv — more than 23.8 mln t (+20.4%), Chernomorsk — 18.8 mln t (+24.3%), Odesa — more than 18.1 mln t (+17.5%).

Previously reported that in September 2019/20 the export of rapeseed oil from Ukraine reached a record level of 64.5 thou. t. An equivalent volume was only shipped in September 2015/16.
