Grain export 2019/20: shipment volumes remain higher YoY

Since the start of 2019/20, Ukraine exported 20.05 mln t of staple grains. As of November 6th, commodities shipment increased by 6.11 mln t (43.8%) from the prior year's comparative period.

By the data of the Agrarian Ministry, grain export shipment in the reporting period are as followed:

  • wheat — 11.87 mln t (4.14 mln t more y-o-y);
  • barley — 3.36 mln t (573 thou. t more y-o-y);
  • corn — 4.57 mln t (1.41 mln t more y-o-y);
  • rye — 5 thou. t (58.4 thou. t less y-o-y).

In the 2018/19 season, grain exports from Ukraine reached 49.74 mln t. This volume is 21% (10.37 mln t) higher from the indicator for the 2017/18 comparative period (39.37 mln t).

As of November 4th, harvesting of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine was conducted on the area of 14.2 mln ha or 93% of the total. The crop reached 67.5 mln t using the average yield of 4.75 t/ha (2018: 4.43 t/ha).
