Grain export 2019/20: corn dominates the grain trade

Since the start of 2019/20, staple grains export from Ukraine has reached 36.78 mln t vs. 28.18 mln t in the prior season's comparative period.

As of Feb. 4, commodities shipment increased by 8.59 mln t from the comparative period of the previous year, the information and analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine reports.

Grain export structure in the reporting period is as follows:

  • wheat — 15.88 mln t (4.28 mln t more y-o-y);
  • barley — 3.89 mln t (629 thou. t more y-o-y);
  • corn — 16.51 mln t (3.89 mln t more y-o-y);
  • rye — 5 thou. t (81.9 thou. t less y-o-y).

In the week of Jan. 25-31, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.14 mln t, having slightly increased from the previous week (1.12 mln t). Wheat export shipment volume tripled in the reporting period and amounted to 201 thou. t vs. the previous week's 69 thou. t. Barley shipment totalled 3 thou. t, while corn export dropped 12% wk/wk to 931 thou. t.
