Ukraine doubled its presence in Egypt grain tenders

Ukraine is strengthening its presence in the Egyptian tenders. Thus, in 2019/20 the share of Ukrainian grain is estimated at 19% against 8% a season earlier, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.
ЕМЕА S&P Global Platts expert Karim Ezzat El Afany noted that over the past 20 years, there has been a 37% increase in the wheat area in Ukraine, while the average yield has increased by 108%.
"In terms of corn trade, Ukraine may export a record high volume this season — 31 mln t with a harvest of 35.8 mln t. At the same time in July-Jan the country already sold 61% (19 mln t) of the projected volume of corn, the main supplies of which were to the EU, Egypt and China," said the expert.
As reported, the Black Sea region is developing more and more shares of the world grain market and is the 3rd and 5th largest producing region of wheat and corn, respectively.

Since the start of 2019/20 (July 2019 – June 2020), Ukraine has supplied 41.31 mln t of staple grains to foreign markets. As of Mar. 4, agricultural commodities shipment increased by 8.23 mln t (25%) from the prior year's comparative period.
