Amendment to land market bill proposes to curb the number of potential buyers
The land market bill No. 2178-10 designed to regulate farmland market in Ukraine is proposed another amendment providing for the transition period and a limit for the number of buyers so that only the dairy business can buy the land. Such an initiative (amendment No. 2545) was taken in the session hall of the Parliament by a representative of the parliamentary group For the Future, secretary of the Agrarian Committee Ivan Chaikivskyi, AgroPolit.com reports.
"We need to provide the Government with a quality land market law. On the one hand, the agricultural sector is waiting for this draft law, on the other hand, Ukrainian society is rather concerned and is not ready to accept it in such wording. Therefore, in order to bring this law closer to the demands of the people, I propose the amendment No. 2545 and to apply the transition period, which will allow until January 1, 2023, to acquire ownership of land plots only to individuals and legal entities engaged in dairy farming," stated Ivan Chaikivskyi.
Previously reported that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stressed the land market must be open primarily for the citizens of Ukraine.
