Ukrainian corn to be exported via Lithuanian Port of Klaipeda

Cargo transportation company LG Cargo, a subsidiary of Lithuanian state railway company Lietuvos geležinkeliai, together with its partners will deliver 0.5 mln t of Ukrainian corn annually to Klaipeda State Seaport in Lithuania, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The relevant trilateral memorandum of intent was signed by LG Cargo, commodity and raw materials distribution group in Eastern Europe Imlitex Holdings and its member Ukrainian company UkrKhim Trading House.

"The first cargo should be shipped within six months," Lietuvos geležinkeliai says in a statement.

Chairman of Imlitex Holdings Board Vygandas Blandis claims that it is difficult for Ukrainian exporters of agricultural products to deliver them through the Black Sea ports. In Klaipeda, corn will be loaded onto ships at Bega terminals, the report adds.

As a reminder, as of Mar. 30 corn export shipment from Ukraine totalled 22.76 mln t, 13% or 3.26 mln t more YoY.
