Kernel commits USD 170 mln in renewable energy projects
Kernel will spend USD 170 mln on renewable energy projects implementation. Its priority is improving the energy efficiency of production assets and saving natural resources. At Kernel's oil crushing plants, steam produced by boilers fueled by biomass, sunflower husk, is used as an energy source, the company says in a statement.
At Kropyvnytskyi OEP, a 7.5 MW turbine operates at full capacity for production of "green" electricity.
The company expects that by 2021, six more Kernel plants generating cumulatively more than 90 MW will start operating under the same principle.
"Starokostiantyniv crushing plant, which is currently under construction in Khmelnytsky region, will become the largest state-of-the-art oil extraction plant in Ukraine. The plant will be equipped with a 20 MW turbogenerator," the message reads.
As a reminder, Kernel plans to finalize the construction and commission of Starokostiantyniv crushing plant by the end of 2021.
