Winter wheat in Cherkasy region yields 13% lower

Grain and leguminous crops harvest in Cherkasy region progressed to 215 thou. ha of areas threshed or 30% of the planned. The crops yield 4.7 t/ha, 13% lower from 2019 (5.37 t/ha).

As reported by Cherkasy Region State Administration, crops harvested reached the following indicators:

  • winter wheat: 660.7 thou. t on 133.2 thou. ha (75% of the planned) using the average yield of 4.96 t/ha (2019: 5.67 t/ha)
  • barley: 173.1 thou. t on 38.8 thou. ha (75.2%), 4.46 t/ha (2019: 4.56 t/ha)
  • peas: 12.3 thou. t on 4.3 thou. ha (76.1%), 2.87 t/ha (2019: 2.93 t/ha)
  • winter rapeseed: 22.6 thou. t on 8.3 thou. ha, 2.73 t/ha (2019: 3.13 t/ha)

"The highest bulk yield to date has been harvested in the farms of Mankivskyi, Zolotoniskyi and Chyhyrynskyi districts. By the average yield of grain and leguminous crops, farms of Cherkasy (7.27 t/ha), Chyhyrynskyi (6.52 t/ha) and Zvenyhorodskyi districts (6.06 t/ha) dominate," the message reads.
